RECIPES: CHILLED XMAS CIDER, MULLED WINE & DELICIOUSLY HYDRATING COOL ICED TEAS

CHILLED XMAS CIDER 

Keep cool and be festive with this delicious icy chilled Christmas cider with the aroma of Christmas we all love.

INGREDIENTS

1 bottle of chilled apple cider

2 cups of pre-made and strained, chilled Ovvio Organic Mulled Christmas Tea

2 cups of pre-made and strained, chilled Ovvio Organic Earl Grey Tea

sweetened with 2 tablespoons of raw honey

METHOD

Place cider and tea in a large 2L jug and serve with cinnamon sticks and plenty of ice.

MULLED CHRISTMAS WINE

The aroma of mulled wine filling the house evokes the feeling of Christmas – the warmth of friendship and family, coming together and sharing in celebration. Mulled Christmas Wine is not only a great festive drink to enjoy, but this delicious drink is also good for you. Red wine, which forms the base of this drink is a rich source of antioxidants, including resveratrol. These antioxidants may promote great heart health and keep us looking young! The traditional spices that give mulled wine its wonderful aroma and flavour also contain health promoting properties. The cinnamon and nutmeg are both warming spices that have been traditionally used to help encourage healthy digestion and the citrus peel and rosehip are great sources of vitamin C. Wrap your hands around a cup of mulled wine to reap the antioxidant and digestive benefits.
INGREDIENTS

1 bottle of organic red wine

4 tablespoons of Ovvio Organic Mulled Christmas Tea

4 tablespoons of raw honey

1 organic orange sliced with skin on

a handful of dried cranberries or currants

a handful of almond flakes

garnish: orange slices and cinnamon quills

METHOD

Add all ingredients to a saucepan and simmer for 1 hour on medium heat or add to a slow cooker and simmer on a low setting for an hour or so. Strain and serve hot. Garnish with a fresh slice of orange and a cinnamon quill.

ALCOHOL FREE MULLED WINE

Simply replace wine with water. It’s as delicious and Christmassy.

Delight your friends and family with this Ovvio Organics Iced Tea recipe. A good homemade iced tea is a delicious way to entertain your guests over the warmer months. Adapt this recipe with your favourite tea blends and fruit.

ICED TEA BENEFITS:
A quality homemade iced tea is a great way to cool down and stay hydrated over summer. Unlike other premade drinks filled with sugar and additives, when you create your own iced tea, you can see exactly what goes into it and boost it with extra nutrition. Replenish your body with an iced tea made from a quality organic green, black or herbal tea, which can be rich in antioxidants and other health benefits. Fortify your cooling beverage with fresh herbs and citrus fruits to add a dose of vitamin C.

Ingredients:

  • 4 teaspoons Ovvio Organic Tea or any tea of your choice
  • Boiling water
  • Seasonal fruit and fresh herbs

How to make:

Steep 4 teaspoons of your selected in 450ml of boiling water. Let cool and continue to steep in fridge overnight for best flavour. For an iced tea concentrate: Steep 20 teaspoons of tea in 1L of boiling water. This concentrate can be poured over ice to create 2L of iced tea. Iced tea can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days. Serve the next day with ice, freshly sliced fruit and fresh herb leaves. Sweeten to taste with raw honey or green leaf stevia. Add sparking mineral water or Kombucha for a bubbly, refreshing and hydrating drink.

VARIATIONS

Traditional Ice Tea – black tea base recipe

  • Steep 4 teaspoons of OVVIO Organic English Breakfast tea leaves in 4 cups of freshly boiled water for 10 minutes
  • Stir in 2 tablespoons of raw honey or coconut sugar while the tea is still hot
  • Strain the tea leaves and allow to cool in the fridge
  • Serve with plenty of fresh lemon slices and ice

Lemony Ice Teas with a twist recipe

  • Steep 4 teaspoons of OVVIO Organic Rise & Shine, Vanilla Lemon Heaven, Paddington tea in 4 cups of freshly boiled water for 10 minutes
  • Optional: For extra sweetness – stir in 1 tablespoon of raw honey or coconut sugar while the tea is still hot
  • Strain the tea and allow to cool in the fridge
  • Serve with plenty of fresh lemon & orange slices and fresh stalks of lemongrass and ice

Minty Ice Teas with a twist recipe

  • Steep 4 teaspoons of OVVIO Organic Minty or Peppermint tea in 4 cups of freshly boiled water for 10 minutes
  • Optional: For extra sweetness – stir in 1 tablespoon of raw honey or coconut sugar while the tea is still hot
  • Strain the tea and allow to cool in the fridge
  • Serve with plenty of fresh mint leaves and ice

Fruity Ice Teas with a twist recipe

  • Steep 4 teaspoons of OVVIO Organic Ruby Heart Berry, Summer Pineapple, Pear Bergamot in 4 cups of freshly boiled water for 10 minutes
  • Optional: For extra sweetness – stir in 1 tablespoon of raw honey or coconut sugar while the tea is still hot
  • Strain the tea and allow to cool in the fridge
  • Serve with plenty of fresh berries, pineapple, orange, pears and ice

Add sparkling mineral water, kombucha or champagne for a bubbly, refreshing and hydrating drink.
