HERE IS OUR TEA TIME Q & A WITH JOSEPH
1. CAN YOU PLEASE TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF?
An Australian stuck in an Egyptian man’s body, I’m an Oud (Middle Eastern lute) player and composer.
2. HOW DID YOU BECOME A MUSICIAN?
No one really choose to become a professional musician, just kept on practicing, composing and collaborating with different genres and it just seemed to happen. It is a privilege.
3. WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING IN AN ALTERNATE LIFE OR CAREER?
Probably presenting on radio, selling stuff on daytime tv or an auctioneer of houses 🙂
4. WHAT IS THE MOST PLAYED SONG ON YOUR PLAYLIST?
Although I have very eclectic tastes in music and my musical mood is always shifting, ‘summer’ from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons has been on high rotation.
5. WHAT DO YOU DREAM ABOUT?
Dancing in a field of Ovvio teas, with Ouds playing and birds singing 🙂
6. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE QUOTE?
I have many but I like Hunter S. Thompson’s quote ‘walk tall, kick ass, learn to speak Arabic, Love Music and never forget you’re from a long line of Truth Seekers, Lovers and Warriors.’ This quote inspired my latest album Truth Seekers, Lovers and Warriors. I also like Kahlil Gibran’s ‘Love knows not its own depth until the Hour of Separation.’
7. WHAT DO YOU DO TO RELAX AND UNWIND?
My life centres around music, but don’t mind a nice walk outdoors in the Sun and watching the waves by the ocean or beach. Don’t mind a spot of boxing exercise either now and then.
8. WHAT IS YOUR FIRST MEMORY OF TEA?
Being Egyptian-born, there is no real memory of tea, its just there, its a staple and people meet socially over it. My Mother though always put fresh mint leaves in cups of black tea for a little minty flavour, something I still like to do.
9. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE TEA?
That would have to be the ‘Angel’ blend, Earl grey, Lavender and Chamomile. I find it soothing and healing especially after a concert or a full day of meetings and recording.
10. WHAT ARE YOU GRATEFUL FOR?
Being able to compose and perform my own music with amazing musicians who bring the melodies to life.
