Jaggery – An ingredient found in our NEW Lattes21st September 2017
Have you ever heard of Jaggery?
It’s an ingredient found in our NEW Lattes.
- Wattleseed Latte – a Chai based on Wattleseed, an Australian native ingredient (caffeine free); and
- Spiced Chai Latte – similar to our Chai High Tea but spicier and more ground up for a punchier flavour.
Jaggery is essentially sugar. It also goes by the name of Panela. It is a concentrated product of date, cane juice, or palm sap without separation of the molasses and crystals, and can vary from golden brown to dark brown in colour.
Why did we add Jaggery to our Lattes? Our Lattes were created for cafes that wanted a sweet and concentrated Chai Loose Leaf Tea that isn’t processed like Chai powder and is an alternative to a wet Sticky Chai which is sweetened with honey. We add just little Jaggery to sweeten our Lattes as the aromatic Chai spices like cinnamon offer enough natural sweetness.
What about our other NEW Lattes? Our Rosie Glow Latte, Golden Turmeric Latte and Matcha Latte do not contain sugar. Chai High and Dandy Chai also do not contain sugar. Our Artisan Cacao contains Coconut Sugar.
