GEORGE RAFTOPOULOS – OVVIO TEA AMBASSADOR NO:5

17th September 2015
Anthia Koullouros

“In the work of Sydney artist George Raftopoulos we see an intensely personal journey of love, doubt and empowerment. Yet like Greek myths which hold specific significance for Raftopoulos, a child of Greek migrant parents, Raftopoulos predominantly autobiographical paintings are reaching for universal themes of hope, longing, fear and desire. The artist’s fear sare mitigated by his heroic shadowy figures. These paintings undoubtedly speak of his heritage and history- Hellenic in conception yet Antipodean in execution”.

We met this amazing man, father of 2 beautiful girls and husband to the beautiful Denise in Paddington. He is our neighbour. He is the friendly face in the early hours of the morning when the streets of Paddington are alive with locals gathering around Gusto cafe for a coffee or tea before they go to work. George is a fan of Ovvio Tea so he was an obvious choice to represent our brand. He has loved one particular tea called Pure-ify Tea, a reincarnation of Cleansing Tea (the name change occurred in 2014). In store we call it George’s Tea.

A father a lover of things and someone that loves to question things and answer via my artistic practice.

  1. What would you be doing in an alternate life or career?

Nothing this is it I am afraid It will come and find me in the next life also…..

  1. What is the most played song on your playlist?

Drinking ‘Lapsang Souchong’ and screaming at the height of my voice because it tasted like burnt firewood and couldn’t understand how any body in their right mind would want to drink it…I was 8 at the time!!!

 9. When did you discover Ovvio? And what is your favourite tea?

I am indebted to Ovvio as it changed my life so I must thank the universe for guiding me to Anthia….and also my brother in-law whom introduced me. However to act upon the Ovvio truth as I call it is purely voluntary however I was so excited to get started with Anthia’s truth about foods etc I was chomping at the bit!!

‘George’s Tea of course!!!

10. What are you grateful for?

My gorgeous girls my wife and my two daughters whom support my madness and chaos whole heartedly I am truly blessed and the fact that I know look after my self In a way only possible with the knowledge of Ovvio and Anthia has afforded me.
